Default Better gas mileage

I just started a new job that involves me driving around a lot more than expected. Is there anything that will help increase my gas mileage? Does an intake actually help? Any advice is appreciated.

If you have a 1.8t, stay out of the turbo. If you still don't like the mileage, buy a Smart car and take your life into your own hands.

There are a few things that can be done. First leave 5 minutes earlier than you think you should (it might surprise you how much fuel that will save). Second make sure your tires are inflated to the correct pressure for the weight they are carrying. Third plan your approaches to stop lights so you can roll up as they turn green.

Inflate your tires to the max allowed on the gas door sticker. Road noise may increase though. Be sure the alignment is OK, no skuffing of tire edges. Pre-cat oxygen sensor(s) have to be working and no fault codes/check engine light. Remove unecessary stuff from the car if you don't need to cart it around. Don't "warm up" the engine, jump in and go. A cold engine idling to operating temp is running rich for a long time. Use the lowest viscosity oil recommended for your car, say 0W-30. And as the others said, drive easy and plan your trips.

By intake do you mean a "cold air" intake? Keep the intake system stock.
