Default Thanks for the info Darryl... I wonder if you had an IC if that pinging would go away...

Sounds like at that point, the pinging is due more to the heat into the cylinders than lean fuel situations. You planning on an IC?

Default I'm sure a 2nd SMIC or FMIC would help, no doubt about that...

I am planning on an FMIC (preparing for MTM Stage 4). I'll try a different plug perhaps (switch back to the Beru Ultra). I'm still unclear as to what the proper "heat range" should be for the plug with this MTM Stage 2, and whether a "cold" or "hot" plug is appropriate. I've been told "cold", but I've also been told "hot" for more power. I've also been using different 91 octanes; Shell, Chevron, 76. No difference really. I may run some Race Fuel at the 76 pump just to see if it makes a difference. Or get some Tolulene and mix that in. But I'd rather be set up for the 91 at the pump. But for now, I mainly want to hear what Hoppens response is to my letter about the hesitation/learching in 1st and 2nd. It really seems to be the MTM SW with this cars DBW and the rest of the Audi safeguards. I thought maybe it had something to do with the larger injectors (because I installed them), but I cannot see anything wrong with them. I also have not got any CEL warnings. Strange. I drove Nasty A4's car when he got the Stoptech BBK installed and his didn't feel like mine in 1st and 2nd with his APR Stage 1. It wasn't the same power/torque of course, but the power/drive delivery felt smooth.

Default It will. : ) D if you want...

we can Vag your car tonight or this weekend to see if you're timing is too advanced. Let me know. I run those plugs and my car runs great.

Default Thanks...

That would be very helpful. Can't do it tonight. Maybe Saturday, late afternoon, or Sunday. Let me see what's going on first. I got your email, I'll respond soon.

Default Interesting. MTM is known to be smooth. I wonder what gives?

You installed the chipped ECU yourself I assume also?

Default Not sure..

Yes, I installed the ECU and injectors. Everything seems perfectly fine with that and no CEL. I'm waiting to hear back from Hoppen.

I was thinking the DVR and plugs just because it was so strange, but it was there before those were installed. I'll switch back to confirm though.

Default Basic 93!!!, LOL!!! Mike, you lucky Bastard!!! : )

All we have is crappy 91, I think the 93 helps, what coppers are you running? I'm running the '04 revo software, the first car in the US, they wanted to test a CA car cause of the low octane, I'm running the same plugs as 4NCAR and no pinging, but I have a FMIC and can adjust my timing and boost. The programming is very smooth, runs great. Wish we had 93 here!
