Default Bike Rack Fairing on OEM?

Hey everyone,

I just bought some of the OEM aluminum base carrier bars and two Barracuda racks off of eBay.

I was wondering if you could put a fairing on these bars? I know that it isn't really needed on these OEM ones but i was really impressed with this setup on someones car on this forum.(couldn't re-find the post)- Loved the huge quattro sticker. Would say a thule or yakima fairing fit or is this a pointless waste of time and $$$?

Default you can make it all fit with a bit of ingenuity.

thule = square bar
yakima = round bar

Default Doesn't the newer Audi-supplied setup make use of the Thule 'aero' bars?

If your cross bars are what appear to be an aluminum extrusion - an elongated/oval shape viewed from the side, (curved top, flat bottom, with a channel on top to press in the rubber molding and slide in the trapped attachment T-bolts), I suggest this as an option.

Bolts right onto the newer Thule aluminum aero bars:

Default Probably. I know my oem Audi rack from 2002 is manufactured by thule.

Don't think it's the same one you're talking about though.

Default You can make it fit

I lucked out and found an older fairing without all the plastic crap on the side, and those happened to be much easier to manipulate.

Default So if i found an old stylte thule fairing on eBay that would work... and it would need to be the....

large one also? I'd buy a new one but i don't really like the look of that crap on the ends, and i'd also like to have it less 'rigged'. Anywhere else i could find a god used old style one other than waiting around on eBay?

Thanks for your responses guys! Always helpful

Default You can try calling bike or ski shops to see if they have ancient inventory laying around

I happened to pick mine up from a teacher at school
