Blinking Check Engine Light!
Hello, Recently my engine has been screeching. sounds like a serpentine belt or maybe idler pulley? Either way, the real concern was today the check engine light was flashing when I turned on the car and it feels like it is idling rough. The check engine light has been on for a while, but not flashing and it was running fairly smooth. Now it feels like the engine is being sluggish. The belt noise has been happening for a little over a week now but the flashing check engine light and sluggish engine feel happened today. Not sure if these issues are related or not but they seemed to happen at the same time. Any idea what this might be? Serious or simple?
Thank you in advance!

I'd say serious. The noise was probably related to the timing belt system, and the loss of power due to incorrect timing or even valve damage. I personally would not run it again until the belt's condition, and timing are checked.

Thank you. Do you think it could be related to the ignition coils? That could hopefully be an easier fix right? The other day I spilled a little oil when adding some and it might be all over the spark plugs. I hope it could be something not so serious like a misfire. I haven't drove it and turned it off as soon as I saw the flashing check engine light.
