Default blown clutch

i took my car in for service thinking i blew my clutch. i only have 4500 miles on the car and yes i know how to drive stick. after they do some tests on my car they tell me that i blew my clutch, messed up my fly wheel, broke my pressure plate in half and damaged my transmission. oh yea and the cost to fix it was $9000 if i didnt have it under warranty. Is this even possible? has any one else had this problem? did i get a lemon?. All i did to my car was forged dv, revo, k&n drop in. I had the chip in for about 2000 miles do you think i ran the car too hard for the clutch? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance

Default You are one lucky Dude, If they had known about those mods you would be paying a big bill....

However, since anything is possible when it comes to mechanical things, perhaps there was a problem with your car and all hell broke loose and none of it due to your driving style. But be sure your dealer will be keeping an eye out for you the next time this happens to you (if it does) so will Audi. You most likely used up your clutch warrantee especially if they suspect you had something to do with it,you better check with them what the status is on the clutch warrantee for the future. It is a well known fact that the clutch in these cars is the "weak"
link in the drive line but it is also intended to be that way as not to break anything else. Under "normal use" there is no problems with this set up but if you start to dump the clutch with a Quattro(lots of grip) then you will start to slip the clutch. Now add to this a chipped motor and you amplify the problem. Driver beware!

Default FYI-typo in your sig, "Bosch".

BTW- what is the function of the spherical bearings in the LCA? Do they replace the bushings?

Default You might want to consider an upgrade... cuz once the next one's gone...

...you're gonna have to pay the labor to remove and replace the clutch. (~$1200+). If you're dealer is cool, they'll let you bring your own clutch in... and install if for you.

Read my previous post about my new clutch
