on the 1.8 engine i must stress cant enough as i have found out after a divorce she never changed the oil and when i took the car over it had the dip stick broken and oil light on after paying the back payments the car lost power and started making a taping noise took it to my mechanic in San Antonio who is fair and never screws me he pulled the pan and told me it was full of crank bearing etc debris.why did Audi put the engine in and found out it doesn't fit so they made the smallest oil pan the could on a turbo ? it was a matter of time i guess if you don't change the oil regularly like every 3 k miles or less just a warning to all on this model only sorry about the poor spelling

uhh, no kidding. you are supposed to change your oil every 5k miles or less, thats standard knowledge (or at least should be). you absolutely must change your oil filter as well, using the large filter. if you dont you will get sludge, a very common problem with our cars and 1.8t's in general.
i never understood why people dont read their owners manual and do a little research on their cars before they buy them. even a quick google will reveal the standard preventive maintenance on our cars.
