BMW 330 Xi vs A4 Quattro S-line 2.0
When my lease runs out I am thinking about a BMW 330 Xi to replace my A4 1.8T. I also looked at the 2.0 A4 with all the S-line equipment.
What are your opinions ? I love Quattro ...but the AWDrive and the services provided by the BMW dealers are astonishing. They come to the office to pick up the car, give you a loaner...take care of it all...That's pretty tempting !
I need a car with either Quattro or all wheel capability but those are the only ones that tweak me...Infiniti was only fair next to them.

big difference in price
over $7000 MSRP between a 2.0T quattro S line (including sunroof, premium, and cold weather) vs. 330xi with premium and sport. You may want to consider a 325xi vs. the 2.0T or a 3.2 cs. 330xi to get a better comparison.
one of the magazines did an AWD dry weather test and the 3 series x drive came in 3rd after the A4 quattro and the subie legacy.

why isn't this a 330xi vs. 3.2 comparison ?
personally i think the e90 3 series is ugly... and as far as the b7 body styling goes... well its a face-lift... it's a big price jump from our b6s and once inside the car it's almost identical...
not that that's a bad thing since i love the b6 interior... the bad part is that the b8 is already right around the corner... so the b7 seems like a poor decision unless you're going with a short term lease

I found the BMW to feel much less solid. The doors feel tinny and the interior sucks...
The dash is very odd shaped. The 2.0T us a great powerplant and not surprisingly the magazine companies have found it to be putting out very similar numbers to the 3.2 as far as acceleration so there really isnt a need to step up. The 2.0t is dynoing at at least 215chp and 225tq. The drivetrain also has much less slop when compared to the 1.8T. For the price difference you could also load up on some cool features like nav plus, blue tooth hands free, etc. I love BMW cars, but if I were going to go with that brand it would be with at least a 5 series or an M3.

I prefer Audi engines over Bimmer engines...esp the 330
The BMW may put down better acceleration numbers, but the power and feel is much better in my 3.0 A4 than our family's (now sold) 330ci. There's more torque in Audi engines in the powerband where most driving is done. Bimmers are no fun unless you pull through the entire band past 4k..which wastes gas and puts more stress on the engine.
Another thing you might want to consider is the fact that the 2.0T engine can be easily boosted for more power with a simple chip, intake and exhaust. It should put you well over a 330xi.
Also, Audi interior > Bangle interior.
And lastly, quattro > X-Drive...I dont have to have driven a BMW xi to tell you that.
* edit: In terms of service, I've noticed that BMW service and sales distinguishes between a common 3-series owner versus a 7 series owner. So I wouldnt bank on getting VIP service at BMW with a 3-series.
The only reason I would go with the 330xi over the A4 right now is because I dont like the B7 front's bottle-nose/round look.
