To Bose or not to Bose?
Hello!
Looking into purchasing an A4 Avant and found one with the almost all the specs I want, except this particular one does not have Bose.
Anyone care to share some insight on Bose vs. non-Bose?
Thanks!

As with most features on this car the '02 stock=earlier premium features. My base one is fine.
I have heard complaints about the BOSE in regard to the fact it costs extra. BOSE in general is a premium brand when your talking about clock radios or dorm speakers from decades ago. Been in 20 major recording studios, never have I seen or heard any BOSE equipment.

it does sound more pleasant after a while
i dont' know wheter it is my ears being more accustomed to the non-bose system or wheter the speakers actually do sound better after being "broken in".. but it sounds better to me after a month or so of using it everyday.

my $0.02 worth....
Get it -- unless you're into doing your own stereo installs/upgrades/etc & you wanna rock neighborhood or you're not really into music.
For me, all it took was taking one of my favorite CD's down to the dealer and listened to a Bose and non-Bose system. That decided it for me right there & then! I suggest you do the same. The sound system is actually one of my favorite features of my A4. I even added the OEM CDC -- got it used off an AW guy -- and the system is now really complete.
Again, you can probably put the $500+ Audi charges for Bose and start to build a custom system with woofers and all that. But if you're not into that, get the Bose! It's a good enough system ready to go.
Granted, I have an '01 with - 8 spkrs and 120w. The '02-s have 10 spkrs and 150w (?). Holy cow - get it!!!

CD players definitely have a "break-in" period, as do speakers
The sound was initially somewhat fatiguing, but it's mellowed out significantly... wouldn't say it's really audiophile-grade or anything, and I max it out sometimes, but on the whole, it's not bad. The six-disc in-dash changer is nice...
