Default Bose Package - worth it?

I am relatively impressed with the Audi Symphony II package in the 2003/4 1.8t Quattro.

I can pick up a 2004, but it has the Bose kit - is it worth it?

listen to both and decide. if you're planning on adding aftermarket stuff, don't get it

Default At first I didn't want Bose, but it was too hard to find a fully-loaded 1.8T w/out Bose...(m)

When I got my 2003, it seemed like if you wanted Xenon lights, the car also had Bose. It was impossible to find a silver 1.8TQMSPX w/out Bose. So I decided to just get it.

Now, I am so glad I did.

I had an A4 w/out Bose for a loaner recently. It didn't sound nearly as good.

Unless you are planning on upgrading your audio system with aftermarket stuff, the Bose package is definitely worth it.

Default Better question - can you do better than Bose for same $$$ on aftermarket?...

Keeping the head unit, any ideas on what speakers and amp you can get for the same price as the Bose upgrade that would sound better? GTakacs' system looks great, but I'm sure it cost big bucks.

Default I am glad I got mine

I don't have plans to upgrade the symphony II. The Bose enables me to turn up the volume to a relatively high level without any distortion.

Besides I need the trunk space, so ext. amps and subs are out of the question.

Default I like the way it sounds

I was thinking about saving money and maybe replacing the sound system later on, but the car with all the options I wanted ended up including BOSE too. I went with it, and I do not regret it.
It sounds great, but I usually do not turn it up really loud. I end up listening to the engine more, and keep the stereo lower.

Default Bose is highly overrated

Name brand people know, but the sound is only acceptable.
