Default Break in period

What is the max amount of RPM I should go up to when I first get my car. Also, for how long should I do this?

Default Re: Break in period

The key is to vary the RPM. Try to keep it below 3000 rpm for the first 500 miles. After that take it up to 5000 at times, but still vary it below 3000 for the most part. After 1000 miles its pretty much on, but the full break in really doesnt end until about 5000 miles.

Default On my TT, I drove in second gear for 4 minutes at 5K plus to burn in

my iron block 1.8T. The engine had very low oil consumption, revved easy, and pulled strong evenly up the rev range. Did it second day of ownership and the motor was a jewel with no DTC's from day one for a year when I sold it. Moral of the story; drive it like you stole it.

That's the craziest break-in procedure I've heard on here so far. Congrats Jack! =)

LOL. The funniest part is it works. Better to use a higher gear for a lower load, though.

So, redlining in 6th is actually a good thing? And here I thought I've been doing damage... :&gt

doesn't a higher gear = more load?
