Default A/C Issues - Blows hot air no matter what setting....

except if I turn it all the way to LO. Then it's somewhat cool. As soon as I try to set the temperature again it starts to blow hot air again. It's intermittent and of course it never happens when I bring it in so they are hesitant to do anything about it. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and if so did they fix it.....

Mine does the same thing dealer won't touch it. I set it to auto and 75 degrees it blows hot air and then I turn off car. Let car sit for an hour and restart set to 69 degrees now blows cool air not cold like when it is set to LO but better.

If the inside temp is lower than your chosen setting, this causes the system to blow warm air.

Default Uh, did you just turn on for a few seconds, it flushes the system

and blows hot air out from the standing car at a high rate for 20 seconds or so, it eventually gets down to the correct temp.
Depending on inside temperature, the air will either be hotter than ambient or lower.

Default I think you're on to something here...

I've had this situation occur many times and wondered what the heck was going on! I just usually set the A/C to LO and avoid the problem alltogether. However, I think maybe the circumstances you describe may be the cause!

Default Take it in and leave it with them.

That happened to me. It took a while for them to solve the problem. They had to replace the unit. The condensor was fine, but the ac unit had a short in it.

Default What would you expect it to do if the temp inside is lower?

It tries to get the inside of the car to the temp you set regardless of whether it needs to use heat or cold.

There is no A/C "on" mode that you can use to test blasting cold air...unless it is very hot outside and inside the car.

Default Dont know if this makes any sense, but..

i overheard a mechanic at the dealership talking about someone's car that was experiencing the same problem..from what i heard the, mechanic was saying something like the outside temperature gauge was defective, and this was causing the interior temp control to be unstable..

Mine did this for a week or two, then it just gave up. Been fine since.

Default I wasn't thinking... I assumed the temp was for the air coming out of the vent!

Now I realize that it is the desired temp in the cabin and so it adjusts accordingly. I still think that the sensor is off a little. I've seen posts on this previously...
