A/C is very weak in my Dad's 1.9TDi, and in the UK you would think it hard to tell - the few times we need it :-)

Service just had a look today and say it's fine, but compared to my B5, it's almost as if it's not there.

Question - heat exchanger is one of the two radiators in the front of the engine bay correct? Two electric fans - one basically always on, the other in my B5 only on with the A/C - so assume it helps the cooling process - but Dad's B6 not on at all as far as I can tell - even left car running to see if it kicked in when engine hot but no....

Anything I can check to see just how much cooling is taking place - even on LO it feels warm to my B5.

I think that at least one fan should be running when th AC is on. There's probably something wrong -- A4 ACs are VERY cold...

air comes into the vehicle (i.e. near the pollen filter).

The heat exchange actually takes place at the evaporator. You could have a clogged pollen filter or even an evaporator with debris in it.

Thanks, the A/C is a little better after a visit to the $tealer - who claimed there was nothing wrong and did nothing??? Only been about 2 months from last service and the filter should have been replaced then...guess I'll take a look and see how 'new' it looks...

$tealer told my Dad the second fan is not for the A/C - so guess they know? Odd how mine is only on with the A/C - but they say it's because mine is petrol??
