Called my Service Advisor Re. Oil change, He told me to use synthetic. does 0w-30 sound right?

5w-40/A3/VW503 is Olde School. 0w-30, 0w-40/VW503.01/MB229.3 is Nu Skool

Default VW 503 is the low HT/HS LL-spec, you mean 503.01 VW 502 is based on A3 & can be a dino or blend
VW 503 is the low HT/HS LL-spec, ex:Castrol SLX II and it might damage a normal engine, think 5w-20.
VW 503.01=normal HT/HS LL-spec, ex Castrol SLX or GC. Similar to MB 229.3
VW 502 is based on the older generic A3-spec, under $2 oils meet it, so does Belgian Syntec.

Oil Specs for VW/Audi Gas Engines:

VW spec HTHS

502.00 3.5
503.01 3.5 Longlife Service
503.00 2.9-3.4 Longlife Service


505 range is for various diesel applications.

I *was* surprised it meets the latest LL-specs, VW 503.01/MB 229.3. Now a Conoco produkt, ja!

I use Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 and it loves it.
