Default Can anyone tell me what exactly center rings do?

Guy at the place where I bought my wheels (19x8.5 5x115) told me that I would probably need them. Thanks for any info.

Default They help center your wheels....

Sometimes with wheels, the center hole is bigger than the hub it mounts to. So you put hub centric rings on your wheel so that it matches with your car.

Default hub centric rings allow the wheel to fit properly (more)

used so that when they are installed on a vehicle, the wheels are located directly off of the center flange of the brake drum or rotor. this is done to insure that the outer beads of the wheel are concentric with the wheel bearings. the result is a much truer, better balanced tire/wheel assembly. this is very important with modern high tech suspension systems.

Default 5x115 is the wrong fitment... 5x112 is correct

Assuming you purchased wheels for a B6

Default what parameters I need to know to choose right rings? Or they are standard?

Is it hard to get them in local stores?

Default They are not standard.

You need to contact either the manufacturer, or one of the wheel distributors and find out what the center bore of the wheel is.

Once you have the center bore, you can order rings. The ID of the ring is 57.1mm, while the OD will be what the center bore dimension is.

We offer numerous rings on our website.

Default one thing I don't understand about these is this...

how do you know if your wheels need them or not? or do they work with any wheel?

Default if the bore of your wheels is bigger than the bore on the hub, you need rings

should be able to tell. either the wheel will be snug when you put it on, or there will be play.

for instance OEM wheels don't need the ring since they're manufactured as being hubcentric (as are a lot of the reps), but wheels that can fit on more than one manufacturers cars, probably are going to need rings.

surprisingly enough, Ronal has a pretty good section on its website

http://www.ronalusa.com/shopping/index.html</a

Default Most aftermarket wheels use them.

all genuine Audi/VW wheels DON'T use them.

A real easy way to test is put the wheel on the car against the brake rotor. Don't put any lugs in, just hold the wheel in place. Does the wheel sit perfectly centered on the hub? Can you easily line up ALL 5 lug bolt holes?

If you answer yes to both, then you more than likely don't need hub rings. If the 5 bolt holes don't line up easily, and you need to use your feet, or a second person to hold the wheel in place, so you can line up the holes, then you need hub rings.
