Can anyone tell me why I should put my under hood insulation back on?

took it off friday, just have to get some of the glue off the underside. It looks much cleaner and should bring down turbo temps a bit. I may put it back in for winter months but I think it's gonna stay off for the summer.
I don't see why it's needed as the newer A4's don't come with them.
If anyone is confused, I'm talking about the black liner under the hood in the photo below:

But I might be thinking of an older problem. It used to be common for folks to raise their hoods after a drive to keep the paint from absorbing so much heat from the engine.
This may no longer be an issue with newer paints.

I removed it from my 2004, after I had a couple of the exhaust components Jet-Hot coated, which dramatically brought down my under hood temps ;O)<ul><li><a href="http://www.jet-hot.com">http://www.jet-hot.com</a</li></ul>
