A4 (B6 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B6 Audi A4 produced from 2002-2005

can I use MOBIL 1 0W-40 or 5W-30 or 15W-50? I think 0W-40 is best but hard to find. What is second?

AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts should have 0w-40. If not, then use 5w-30.

Default OK then, one more suggestion...

The new Castrol Syntec (German formula) is already available. I'd use the 0w-30 grade. It's formulated on the thicker side of 30, so it's almost as thick as Mobil 1 0w-40. Apparently a very good oil. Available at Wal-Mart. When you look at the bottle, make sure it says "Made in Germany" on the back label. If it doesn't say that, then it's still the old stuff - don't use that.

It looks like this:<ul><li><a href="http://300m_site.tripod.com/images/">http://300m_site.tripod.com/images/</a</li></ul>

Default *sigh* Not at AutoZone, yet. German car+German oil. Hey, I'm sold. Perfect for 10k+ intervals.

For the people inclined to use the 10k complementary dealer oil change service, this is good news.

Default 5w-30 is fine for a V6, but for a turbo look for the Xw-40 weight, especially in summer.

You could always add a quart or two of 15w-50 to the Xw-30 M1.
