Can I use the new spare tire to replace a flat (others have 19K miles on them)

Hello,

I just got a flat and the tire cannot be repaired. I used the spare wheel and tire to replace it but the spare tire is brand new while the other 3 tires have 19K miles on them. Can I run with that configuration or do I have to buy a new set of tires.

Owners manual said that you can do that no problem

as long as the tire is the same brand/size. You can't use different brand tires though. I know cuz I remember reading this in the manual.

in the past some said that if your tread is well worn on the existing rubber, you can have issues

i thought the tires had to be w/in a certian wear of each other... like, pretty close

19k is generally a lotta wear... especially for the summer conti's.

i'd use the spare w/ one new tire atleast. that way atleast those 2 tires would be the same tread ware.

but i may be wrong...
