That is, could I take my small non-ported box with 10" MTX single, and simply move the wires from the decklid sub down to my box in the trunk?

I'm not sure the Bose amp would power this adequately. Also not sure it would sound any better, given the factory amp/sub match. I'm looking for tighter, cleaner bass, to get rid of some of the reverberation from the stock sub. I'm not looking to rattle any windows.

Anyone tried this?

you will need an amp. use a hi-lo line converter off of the sub wire to the amp.

A4xIV-->why? Does the stock amp not have enough power to push the sub that he is installing?

Or maybe it's an impedance issue (my sub is 4 ohm, Bose is ? 2ohm)

just buy another sub and wire the two in paralell but in a push / pull configuration so you can use the same box and there you go...a 2 ohm configuration, just like the bose.
