My car was running really rough, and I heard a loud air-sucking sound under acceleration. Opened this hood and immediately could tell that noise was coming from this part. If I push it together the engine runs more smoothly.

My local Audi dealer can't get me in for a week and I need to go on a 300 mile trip tonight. It would be awesome to find out what the part is and just fix it myself.

Not sure which part you are talking about. The "y" shaped vacuum line or the one way check valve that is inserted into the line? These deal with EGR and PCV systems whcih are kind of mushed into one on the 1.8. Either way, not sure the exact name of the part, but a call to one of the online companies or Audi dealer and they should be able to hook you up.
