As the Avant is a daily driver I needed the ability to carry a canoe. The rack is a Thule.
Webbing is off an old Grumman attachment system.
The problem was how to attach the front of the boat with the bumper being plastic and no tow hooks. I was able to take off the front fog light grills and after a bit of fiddling looped tubular webbing up around the bumper supports behind the bumper. On the drivers side the grill is wide open for the intercooler intake. It was hard fishing the webbing up through the rubber shrouding for the intercooler but after skinning a few knuckles I was able to make a loop.
The Pass side grill needed a bit of plastic removed to get the webbing out.
When not in use,I kept the webbing loops long enough to store them, by wrapping them up and under the hood held in place by bungee cords.
Simple but effective.
