Default its pretty easy to figure it out... (m)

i've spoken freely to lots of the guys that work at audi service, and they say, they look for physical evidence for chipping when any problems arise...they never go further than that...

in fact, the guys at my dealer told me to go with the serial port, cause that way i would be chipped, without the hassles...my dealer is pretty cool...but if they were to find evidence that there was tampering with the stock box, i would be out of luck.

Default question about all this chip stuff.

some of you have been debating the merits of whether or not the work can be seen. So, if the dealer does see that you have thrown a chip in. And it seams like everyone in the world except me has, what will they do?

Are there negative effects on your engine, warranty and/or relationship with our friendly local audi dealer?

Default thanks, virginia. I went to your link and

it's interesting to me that almost everyone will just take the chance of having their warranty lost. I guess the power gain is just that worth it.

Is that what you think everyone is saying?

Default Well Kaimer - don't get me wrong, the power gain is there! It's not pin you to the seat feel -m-

but it's still a forceful gain to be reckoned with... especially when you're coughing up anywhere from $299 to $499 (just for a chip) and the result is 30-40 hp gain... that's awesome! I think this is where our stock car should be... around 200 hp (of course, more the merrier... but I doubt it'd happen any time soon).

Anyway, up until the time REVo and APR came out with their Serial Port Programming, there was no way to chip it, except for you to physically remove the ECU box and have someone replace your chip. In my case, I have a chastity belt around the box and thus I can cut into it, and afterwards replace the cut bolts with fresh ones... but that left a problem. Each time, if I wanted to remove my chip and replace it with stock, I would have to go back and cut into the bolt and then replace it with new ones. Just too much of a hassle. Although, some people have just replaced their chip with stock (before they go to their dealer for servicing) and just leave the cut bolts as is... For me, that's just a little too close for comfort. Just too many physical evidence to say, "hmmm... let's look a little further and see what we can find." Whereas, REVo and APR - it's quick... clean... and no mess to deal with, with regards to physical evidence... now that's not to say that there is no tell tale signs when my car's hooked up to a diagnostic machine... like some people have been telling me. But, you see, that's most likely for all the chips... so if I can just get rid of those additional tell tale signs aside for the diagnostic reading, I think I'm that farther ahead of the game. But just for the record, I think APR and REVo both claim to be invisible against detection! Just thinking out loud!
