Default Can't get homelink to work

I can't seem to get the homelink to work and I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions. I've gone through the procedure of putting the emergency brake on, holding down one of the homelink buttons until it blinks slowly, and then going to the front of my car with the garage door opener and holding it until the parking lights flash 3 times. After all that, the homelink button on my car will not open or close the garage door.

Default I get the same thing - opener is really old - i do know that it works cause i tried at a friends

house and it was no problem. It goes thru all the motions like it is going to work but it never does. This is why i ordered a new door and opener.

Default Go further into your manual - Use the method where you push the 'set (teach)' button on your garage

door opening mechanism (it's easier to do with two people involved). At least that's what I finally had to do.

Default Re: Really new, maybe a couple of months

On my garage door opener, I first had to push a red button on the back of the garage door opener to allow opener it to accept new opener remotes. I then pushed the Homelink in the car as instructions state.

This is a safety measure, so no one can auto program a remote to work with your door unknowingly.

Has to do with using rolling codes.

Default Thanks, do I need to press the teach or learn button while at the same time pressing the homelink?

Or can it be done one right after the other?
