02 B6 155,000 miles 1.8T. I got my inspection done two days ago. I started my car today (sounded like it didnt want to start) then stalled. Restarted and hit the gas but nothing happened (RPM's didn't even rise). Started again, let it sit for a few mins. Then everything worked fine and I was able to drive normal. This continued to happen in the next couple of starts. I've replaced the fuel filter. I've had check engine on for over 2 years for my cat. Actually replaced the cat and O2 sensors but foolishly used after market. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Sort of sounds like an engine speed sensor, but download codes with a VAGCOM reader and see what it reports.

I have a cheap code reader and I still have the code for my cat, which has been on for a few years now. The other code I got which I've never seen is

P1296 DTC Definition Not found. See Service Manual.

Other info that may be helpful, I have been having an intermittent Hood sensor issue and my oil Sensor needs to be changed.

That code doesn't make a lot of sense in terms your problem. Really need to get a VAGCOM download.
