I'm getting a CEL P0431 on my '02 3.0Q. I bought my car used, non-certified from a local dealer with no extended warranty. I've searched the forums and have read that this is due to either a failed O2 sensor or a fouled cat. I've also read that Audi offered a 7yr/100k mile warranty on emissions parts. I'm wondering if there's a chance I'd still be covered under the original emissions warranty? When I bought the car, there was no transference of warranty since it was from a non-Audi dealer, but I'm quite obviously within the boundaries of the terms for emissions components at 64k miles...

This is a federally mandated thing so you don't need any proof of warranty transfer. It's automatically covered for all cars sold in the USA. I would take it to an Audi dealership though.
There standard practice is to clear the code and wait for it to come up a 2nd time, and then they replace the CAT or 02 sensor.
