Default Change Language with VAG-COM

Not too sure that it's of too much interest, but I thought I'd post what I found anyways. You can change the language that the car uses on the instrument panel. I didn't get a chance to mess with it too much, but when you turn the key to the on position (and you have a manual car) it says something to the effect of "Please Press Clutch Pedal to Start Car". That changes to whatever language you chose, and I'm sure other things change too, such as service reminders.

With a VAG-COM tool:

- Go to Instruments
- Go to Adaptaions
- Go to Channel 04

Change the value to one of these possible values

1 - German
2 - English
3 - French
4 - Italian
5 - Spanish
6 - Portuguese

That's it. Not too useful, but it's something. Oh, and 4,5,6 I used babelfish to determine the language, so I could be wrong. Here's what the instrument panel reported for those values, in case I am wrong and someone wants to correct me:

4 - PER AVVIARE IL MOTORE PREMERE LA FRIZIONE
5 - PISAR EL EMBRAGUE PARA ARRANCAR EL MOTOR
6 - PARA LIGAR O MOTOR CARREGAR / PISAR NO PEDAL DA EMBREAGEM

My center cluster has warning messages in French and regular stuff in English!
I would like to get it all in english if i can. Can I do that without the dealer or Vag?

If that's your car, you are in the wrong forum. you need the Q5 forum.

The change is probably applicable to many models . You need access to the cars computer via Vag-Com or the dealers . There is not a way I know of otherwise.
Mine speaks Aussie and a bit of Kangaroo when the gearbox plays up
