Default changing factory halogen to oem hid...is it possible?

I have a 2004 A4 that came with halogen headlights/fogs. I have installed the ddm tuning hid conversion kits for both low beams and fogs and love them. A few days ago I hit a deer and the headlight housing was destroyed along with the bulb and ballast. The body shop is planning on installing oem audi hid lights. Since the car did not come with the HIDs will this work once they are installed?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Not only is it possible, but most people prefer to run HID low beams and stay with the factory halogens for the high beams. The driving thought behind this is simple. When you kick on your high beams you want instant light. With the HID set up it takes a few seconds for the lights to get up to full power.
The other thing I think you will find, (I did). Is you very rarely, if ever use your halogen high beams once you have your HIDs installed.

I hope this helps.

yes even I believe it is right time to move from halogen to hid. They are far more efficient and long lasting. Even I have changed some lights to hid

Default HID to Halogen

I have the opposite problem. Deer hit with original HID lights installed. I can't find replacements anywhere (and they are pricey!). I can find Halogens a dime a dozen. Can the Halogens be installed in a vehicle that came with HID from the factory?

Have you tried an online used car website or local salvage yard?

My belief is that you will need to replace the harness or remove the ballast from the existing harness and butt splice a connector that matches the halogens. I believe the voltage for the halogens is standard 12V.
