Didn't know you use that! It's the oil I put into my family's B5 2.8 and Allroad.

Default 30 weight is too thin for a V6.Most 30 weights are on the thin side of 30 range except German Syntec

I use Mobil 1 5w-40 SUV, an ester based oil. At WalMart, $4/q is a steal. I also use German Syntec 0w-30, a thick 30 that does not shear. Only at AutoZone. Mobil 1 30 weights are for Japanese/American cars that specificly call for 5w-30. Euro cars take 40 weight, 5w-40 synth or 0w-40. 10w-40 conventional-priced is ok for short intervals or 15w-40 HDEO if outside temps allow. Good for maybe 5000-6000 mi. I would use a 10w-40 blend like Mobil Drive Clean 7500 before I use Mobil 1 5w-30. I guarantee less wear/mile and smoother running.

Some internal pics from an Audi V6 on 5w-50 Syntec 10k intervals, 110k

0-30W was the factory fill, that is the recomended weight for the V-6, 5w-40 synthetic is the oil of choice for protecting the high revving turbo 1.8
