Default CHIP info??? I need to be educated.

I'm new to the world of Audi, and needless to say I'm loving it and very excited. Still waiting on my car. Will be next here month!!!! I keep hearing you all talk about "chipping" you car. what are you all talking about and how much does it cost. does it void the warranty? I need to know.

Default A chip is a little piece added to the cars computer board to increase torque and hp.

The cost is between $500 and around $1200 depending on application and company. It will void your warranty depending on your dealership. Some dealerships are chip friendly when it comes to service. For example they will warranty work as long as the chip did not specifically cause the problem.

It's a simple question, and no one wants to sift through all of the chip questions in search..

Default Actually, usually its just an 'upload' of an optimized version of the motormanagement software.

No hardware added or replaced, not even a chip.

Default If thats so, why are you all scared about warranty? Just plug in the original one before service.

I've had 3 cars chipped and they were all just flashed. They leave in the original chip with original labels etc.
