Default Climate control questions

Hi,

I have some questions regarding climate in our '02 A4s:

- Is the coldness of the incoming air regulated by the target temp, meaning, if I want cold air quick, I have to switch to LO, or is it enough to leave climate on my favourite 75degK to get the fastest response when entering a 100deg car?

- Same thing with heat; if it's cold outside, will it heat even though my setting is not yet HI?

- I found a great description for getting into the climate diagnostic mode (link below); I just couldn't get it to work. Anybody ever had success with a US-spec car?

Thanks,

Yes, it usually adjusts the fan speed to max to cool/heat the car quickly at first

Ok, but is the air cooler at max fan/LO than max fan/75?

Default No. If the thermostat setting is below the ambient temperature, then the system engages the air...

conditioner. So, if the ambient temperature is above 75, the temperature of the cooling air is the same whether you set the thermostat to 74 or LO.

As the ambient temperature approaches the thermostat setting (unless it's on LO), the system will reduce the fan speed, which can make the air feel cooler or warmer to human skin (wind chill factor, etc.).

Default If you set the temp to LO climate control puts the fan at full blast with the compressor on (more)

to achieve the coolest temp at the shortest time... I'd have to check though if setting the temp to LO on the driver side automatically puts the passenger side to LO as well without pressing and holding the AUTO key on the driver side... Otherwise, make sure both temps are set to LO to achieve max cooling. Set to HI to achieve the reverse.
