Default Clutch Pedal Adjustment & Clutch Symptoms

I posted a query a few weeks back stating that the clutch pedal feels like its most of the way out before the gear starts to engaged. Some folks replied that this isn't too unusal.

Can the pedal be adjusted?

Also, what ARE some symptoms of a failing clutch?

Details: '02 A4 3.0 CPO w/39k miles.

Default Audi told me that it is performing as designed.

Makes me think about adding more hp.

Default My '05 3.0 engages MUCH lower than my '02 1.8.

That leads me to believe the '02 with 50k is wearing out.

Default So when do I ask, and who do I ask [dealer |shop], to check it out?

You know the second I do, they will tell me its worn out! Do I just wait for it to slip?

BTW: I called a shop and discribed the way it catches up high, the guy didn't even pause before telling me "Your clutch is probably going."

*IF* I were to have the clutch replaced/repaired - since its not a "wear and tear" item, would you guys recommend taking to the dealer or to another shop?

find an independent mechanic if it won't be covered under the CPO warranty

Default Not unusual. If it's really off could be a bad slave cylinder though

The engagement point isn't really determined by clutch wear on these hydraulic clutches. If it doesn't slip when you do a low-rpm high-torque acceleration in 4th or 5th the clutch is fine.
