Default Clutch replacement: OEM vs Aftermarket

I need a new clutch and flywheel and I'm trying to decide on going OEM vs aftermarket. I usually always go OEM, I guess I feel that the quality of the parts are better...but the price is making me rethink this one.

I found the brand new OEM parts for ~$900 (flywheel, clutch disk, pressure place, throwout bearing)...would I be able to get aftermarket ones substantially cheaper or is OEM is the best way to go?

The car is 100% stock motor wise and I don't plan on changing that.

Default I don't see any benefit to an after-market clutch if your power is stock

I'm still not convinced about light weight flywheels.

Default I was looking for for price benefits then anything else...

Seeing if maybe I can get all the parts I need for $200-$300 less if I go aftermarket.

Default To shed a little bit of light on the subject...

The benefits of going with an aftermarket clutch kit can come in the form of both better pedal feel and increased longevity (depending on driving style). For less than a hundred dollars or so over the cost of a stock clutch, in this case for a South Bend clutch, you can upgrade the durability of your set up without compromising daily drive-ability.

As far as a LWFW, I recommend staying with the OE DMFW in almost all daily driven situations. It is more driveable and will reduce the possibility of chatter, a grabby or jerky pedal and will eliminate any compatibility issues.

Default Not including the flywheel right? That's about the same price I got from autopartsnationwide.com

$300 for the clutch parts and $600 for the flywheel.

The OEM DMFW is only $600? Not too bad. I kept thinking it was like $900.

Actually $553 from the genuinevwaudiparts.com website, not bad at all.
