Default Coil pack failure - 04 1.8t with 46K miles...

Was on the way to work this morning, just getting on the highway, when my 04 1.8t started to missfire and run like crap. The check engine light started flashing as well...

But thanks to this forum, I knew exactly what was wrong. Turned around, went home, and put my spare coilpack in and took it to the dealer. I got them to replace to bad coilpack, and I got my spare one back .

I haven't been on the forums in a while now, I know the coil packs were a common problem on the 01's and some 02's. But have people been having problems with around 46K on the car? The bad coilpack was in cylinder 1, and physically it looked fine.

Default hooray for coil packs!

not just the 01-02's, I have an '03 and had a coilpack failure at 50K.

I guess keeping a spare around is a good idea...

Default Word for word, I had the EXACT problem.....

Same car too, 04' 1.8t with 43k on it. Scared the crap out of me, because it went out while on the freeway. Luck would have it, I was only two miles away from my dealer.

Default Hooray for AudiWorld. Glad that the forum is helpful to people. When my 3.0 dropped a coil pack

at 27K I knew exactly what it was which gave me some piece of mind knowing that it wasn't a huge problem that was easily fixed after the car was flat-bedded to the nearest dealership.
