I bought a 03 A4 1.8t on 11-04. I 've been reading alot about the coil packs on the forum and received a letter from Audi today regarding the matter. In case any one cares , i'll summerize it. Also wondered if everyone else received this letter.:\
Through monitoring vehicles in the feild, wwe determined that 2001 and 2002 ( remember , mines a 2003) TT's, a4's and A6's may experience ignition coil malfunction. You can continue driving with reduced power, should go to dealer immediatly.
Also stessed that your car may NOT exhibit this problem. Blah Blah , Blah
Now i was wondering if this really is OK to drive with a dead coil. With out the cyclinder firing, thats not good for the long term life of your engine, Right???

Dude, I can see Audi's nose from a mile away. When my 2002's CP went to **** the car could not accelerate more than 10 mph. The car was crippled. Just 'fess up Audi and start building my confidence into my car again.

I've posted several times about my experience driving with a dead coil or a cylinder miss. Longest run was last Friday: 26 miles at 60-70 mph. No problems what-so-ever. Engine will be weakest under load so just don't get yourself into a situation where you will need a lot of power in a hurry.
For me it beats waiting for a flat bed and worrying about how its going to get loaded and tied down.
Best Wishes
