Default COIL PROBLEM - PLEASE READ!

I spoke with the local Audi service rep. in Albany NY. They told me that Audi changed coil venders last year and that the new coils do not have the problem. They cost about 140 dollars for all four. Now, in my opinion, if you like your car and this is the only problem - why not just pay the $140 to have them replaced until the recall happens. The one problem is that they do not have that many available. Apparently Audi has sent 9000 new coils to dealers, which should be in soon. You could call up and reserve some. We pay 700 dollars for chips, 1000 dollars for an exhaust, and god knows how much for other mods - the 140 is not really that much - ask your dealer if they can split the cost - maybe they will? This dealer said they would. Now we are only talking 80 dollars. All this complaining is only going to make Audi look like sh#@. Let's face it; Audi has used this engine for a long long time. It has proven itself. They simply have a problem with a vendor. I am sure Audi is going after them hard core as we speak. Not to mention the fact that dealerships want the recall more then we do - they are the ones loosing the new business. We should not make people afraid of the A4. Personally, I prefer it over the 00 and 01 s4 despite the lack of power. It makes them look antiquated. I am only writing this post because I think that Audi has done a great job with this car. For the money it is awesome. All the posts on this site only make matters worse. Sending in the survey and making complaints will promote change, writing posts about it will do nothings except turn people away and further frustrate people. Sorry if I offended anyone!

If Audi would just say that they will do a recall, the venting would stop.

Default No different than any other car maker under similar circumstances.

And your opinion is no more valid than mine. Unless you can PROVE otherwise.

Default U should give up your warantee so Audi can make some more $$, and buy them an Icecream cone too...

No offense intended, but responsiblity is part of being in business. We should not have to buy parts to replace defective ones... Thats why we have a bumper to bumper warantee. We also buy new cars to have RELIABLE transportation. All the niceties come second. I own an A4 too,
and I think it is a piece of work. But it is not worth Sh_t if it has a flaw that will leave me stranded, God knows where (or when).

They can't do a recall until they have enough parts.
