COIL PROBLEM - PLEASE READ!

Audi finally acknowledges?..........(more)
This is from AutoWeek Magazine dated November 25, 2002......
09:21 Nov. 19, 2002)
Car News Briefs: VW, Audi 1.8T owners powerless: "Volkswagen and Audi officials are confirming reports that 2001 and 2002 model cars equipped with 1.8-liter turbocharged engines are experiencing higher than normal rate of ignition coil failures. While the sudden onslaught of failures is creating a parts shortage in some areas, additional parts are on order and supply should be plentiful within a few weeks, officials said."
So Audi/VW acknowledges a problem, lets see how fast they fix the problem. I think that "CPM aka PlacitasNM" has helped a lot on this issue and now we need to see what Audi will do.

I don't know why this is such a difficult concept, but obviously half the people here
don't get it or think it is appropriate or necessary, so why would Audi do it? You have to have customers who expect service and respect before the company will bother providing it.

I also want to know right now...
1) that I am getting 6 new coils as soon as the "good" ones are available. I don't want any lingering doubt that I'll have to have some argument or discussion with a dealer about it.
2) what the chances of failure are so I can make an educated decision whether to, for example, set out in this car over Christmas holidays with family in tow, likely during a snow storm, into a rural area with zero chance of finding any Audi parts within 200 km. I already had this fun in '92 with my previous Audi, though that was a part that simply wore out and it was bad timing. It wasn't a part known to be defective and that would fail prematurely.
I don't like the overly-litigious ways of the USA, but under these circumstances if anyone is injured, has their safety at risk or is even needlessly inconvenienced due to not being notified by AoA, I would love to see them get their asses sued off in a class action suit.
