Default Coilpack Failed! YAY!

Driving less than 5 minutes this morning, then BAM - hesitation, rough idle and driving, flashing CEL.

****!

I'm supposed to be going on a road trip today!

Luckily, I was near a VW dealership and they had ONE coilpack in stock.

Swapped in and out until it ran smooth. CEL dissappeared, everything is A-OK.

Going to the Audi dealership and picking up another to put in the back of my car.

These cars... heh.

Default Does no one listen to me?

Always have a spare coilpack in the trunk. It's as simple as that. Symptoms are well known and it's a 5 min job.

Glad to hear that the problem was easy enough to solve.

Coil pack on my 2003 A4 1.8 t failed last week though it happened in stages...it is f__king outrageous...I drove Nissans ,Fords, Chevys and have a Volvo with twice the mileage of the Audi and this never happened. Lucky for me the shop had a Audi engine sittting around ...a 2002 ..they took the coil pack off and put it on my car...no charge. They warned me though that the insulation around the pack can get very brittle from heat and can break up when removed. They have also told me that tje fuel pump is in the gas tank and that if you let the gas run low the fuel pump can overheat and die prematurely.

Default Yup. My fuel pump failed at 42,000 km.

Don't get worked up over a coilpack.

Seriously, one of my coils failed on Saturday and I'll be waiting for parts for at least a week.

Coilpack failing on me on the way to work. Will most likely swap before leaving.
