Default ZF/Lemforder is OEM. I have heard some other brands are seconds that are ...

reintroduced into the aftermarket retail channel. Avoid Meyle. Febi/Bilstein would be my second place choice. TRW third.

Default Yes and no

the fail early, but the part that fails is not the same.

The B6 has issue with the upper arm rubber bushing going away.

I'm under 70K miles on my S4 and the upper arm bushings are toast... I need to get them replaced.

Default Probably your upper arm bushings

if you want to do the labor, you can get those bushings for $20 each.. $80 to do all 4 uppers isn't a bad deal, if you can deal with the work involved.

Default I am planning on using B7 parts where Audi upgraded the specs, to replace ...

the related B6 spec parts as needed. There is supposed to be handling and NVH benefits.

Default

how bad is it to replace just the bushing? I thought they were press-fit into the control arms?

Default They are not too hard if there are no issues getting the control arms out

on the B5 it was a bitch because of the pinch bolt.

You'll need two pieces of pipe, one slightly smaller than the control arm, but still has enough surface area on the metal of the bushing. And one larger than the opening on the control arm.

Then you can put them in a 5" bench vise and push them out

example on a b5 passat<ul><li><a href="http://home.comcast.net/~hhong4/kmacinstall.htm">http://home.comcast.net/~hhong4/kmacinstall.htm</a</li></ul>
