So my MIL came on, code P0421, cat below threshold on start. I take it to the dealer and they come back with a bad cylinder gasket on bank # 2. They said using borascope they found coolant intrusion on # 6 cylinder. They recommend doing both heads est of $2,573. I'm like, I'll pass for now. I take it an independent shop. They said they found no presence of coolant in cylinder #6 but even worse. Performed a leak down test and confirmed a .2 kilapascal increase in pressure within the crankcase system. This they said is a lower engine conern. Recommendation is a total engine replacement $6800. Should I have another diagnostic done? Take it to a different dealer perhaps or another indy shop? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
