Coolant smell? Strange pink crust from metal hose that attaches to upper rad hose?

The upper radiator hose makes a bee-line across the top of the valve cover (or parrallel). Midway through there appears to be some sort of unused plug or something, which is now got a crusty bubble of pink. Which I believe may be the cause of the coolant smell, and the low coolant light just surfaced when i parked on a hill today.
This smell wasn't really that present during the winter.
Anyone know whats up? Seen this b4?

Yea, I get a little seepage at the lower radiator fitting. I can see where it might seep around the fitting on the top pipe - why not just fix it yourself? Take out the plug, but some sealant on it (even plain ole rtv should work) then put it back in - 5 min of work beats taking it to the dealer.
BTW, Doesn't that chip on your shoulder hurt your back?
"Big Oil" will continue to reap record profits until their product is gone and the investors bail out for the next big thing (my wife worked at a refinery that got shut down becasue it wasn't keeping supply low enough to drive up prices to the current levels)..
This "moderate lefty" wakes around 5:00, work 9-11hrs, uses vocabulary many of my peers don't understand, remain gainfully employed with nice things to show for it, blame myself, then bed

1) I'm not the OP with the problem.
2) You're obviously too much of a n00b to remember the AWOT Braintrust ID's. They were like superhero personaes/areas of kwoledge. I should probably get rid of it, but it is a a bit nostalgia for me before AWOt went to hell. I worked for Big Oil...and now Big Chem on the business side, my wife works in production & development. That said, without knowing more, your story sounds a bit dubious.
3) The sig pic is for the hard core leftists on the politics forum. It gets in the way when I post here, which I have been doing lately leading upto my suspension search, but I'm too lazy to change it ;-)
