Crank case breather hose... Why is it so expensive?

Default Crank case breather hose... Why is it so expensive?
I was changing the valve cover gasket, and the top of the crank case breather hose had detoriated and ended up ripping. Part number 06B 103 213 AF. $90 for a little hose... I just hope I don't damage the new one trying to get it onto the T fitting at the bottom.

Sounds like price gouging. I think I bought one a few years ago for $30-40.
