cylinder 3 misfire, i have tiptronic, cars runs very rough, feels as if the exhaust is clogged....
idles rough, flashing CEL.
VAG COM says only two cylinder misfire codes, nothing else.
Can a very dirty air filter cause this? What lese could cause this?
Can you get an air filter for our cars from an auto parts store?
What are the proper plugs? NGK I know, but what is the right plug number???
Car had NO power, and I had to drive it for about 80 miles after it started flashing, in the pouring rain.

Sounds like mine a few weeks ago...
I had the audihaus check my CPs, my o2 sensors, and my plugs. It turned out that my CPs were fine but my plugs were dark brownish, especially cylinder 2. turns out my o2 sensor was sucking in more air than it should be, which in turn messed around with my plugs and cps.

if it is your plugs, try using the iridiums. i've been chipped for almost 30K and...

update: it IS the coilpack, and i run with the non recalled J packs
anyhow, i went and bought some brand new NGK's today. I replaced all four. At the same time, since the VAG COM was faulting cylinder 3, i went ahead and put the 3rd coilpack in cylinder 1, and put one in the 3rds place.
Ran the car again, same vibration. Ran new codes, and viola, now faults show cylinder 1 with the problem. It was the coilpack.
I called the dealer, spread the news, and they said that is exactly what they do to see if its a coilpack as well. He said bring it in.
So i did, explained everything again, and all is good. they will replace the bad coilpack and i should have it back monday.
