It's possible your 7 plugs were too cold a.w.a old. What engine mods do you have?

Default GIAC FX ....They were only in about 4800 miles though. .....

I just didn't realize the car running so slow until the new plugs were put in and now it seems alot quicker.

Aren't you supposed to run colder plugs in the summer? It's hot as **** here in Vegas.

Default Plugs- Spark plugs should last 30K. I contacted NGK and advised

them of the set up I have, (GT28rs and other mods) and living in a warm climate, (Florida). They advised using the following plug, (which is a lot cooler). BKR8E1X Iriduim. They work well and am pleased with NGK's advice.
I don't understand why some of you experience improved performance after changing plugs in under 5k miles.
Plugs should last a lot longer then that without affecting your performance.
I have been using Iriduim's, (second set) and after 40K and I switch, really no differece in performance. I think they say Iridiums last for 60K.

Default Well......

It's semi common knowledge that the 6E and 7E plugs have to be changed at around 5k and from what I've experienced, maybe a little sooner. I have no idea what the science is behind that. I am quoting a bunch of people on here and AZ that have advised it and it seems fom my experience so far, to be true.

I also have read that the iridium plugs are not as good for our cars as was originally thought but I don't know if this is true or not.

Having said that I am trying a few different plugs now to see what performs best as I don't mind changing them every 4-5k miles if it leads to better performance. To me, performance is much more important that longgevity when it comes to plugs.I LOVE the way the car drives right now. We'll see how long it lasts.

I'm putting the Platins in next.

Default Yes I know that but my question was...

Why the 7Es didn't even last 4500 miles with the same performance? In fact they seemed to start tapering off in smoothness and how quickly the boost came on after about 3k or so, I just waited until 4500 to change them.

Anyway, I'll see how long the 6Es last now, I'm goingto pay more attention to the car's behavior now.

Default Re: Well...... Something isn't right.

Sounds to me your wasting your money. Plugs should last longer then 4K... Do you show significant wear or is gap inlarged? Color correct, etc.?
The Platinum plugs you show in your pics should last a long time also, (while not affecting your performance).
Look at Audi's service schedule replaces at 35K and these are not Platinum or Iridium plugs either.
Grant you, this may be too long for the stock plugs, but if you checked with a qualified source, (like the mfgs. of the plugs) they would set you up with the right plug with your mods to give you the performance and longevity your supposed to be getting.

Default ah those 6Es are 2 bucks each so no big deal...

the 7Es may have been gapped wrong. I didn't even check. But I gapped the 6Es at .028 ( decimal point in right place ? lol) Like I said, the 6Es and 7Es need to be replaced at 5k anyway and I don't mind doing that if I get the performance I'm getting now.

I'm not sure if you know about them lasting such a short time, but it's pretty well known. I would link you but I'm out the door. You can search it on AZ if you would like to. There's a bunch of informative posts about plugs there. I never thought that plugs could make such a big difference. The car is running SWEET right now.
