Default Daytime Running Lights

How come the A4 doesn't have daytime running lights? Does the 3.0?

Default Only Canada

They have them there but it is just that the foglights are always turned on as DRL.

You can reprogram it so there are daytime running lights - either the headlights or the foglights (default for Canada). It seems headlights are used as the DRLs in some other parts of the world on the A4.

I believe part of the reason they don't do the headlight DRLs in the U.S. is because of the Xenon option. I know I wouldn't want my Xenon headlights on constantly, considering how expensive they are. Maybe that's why Canadian ones use the foglights?

Who knows, maybe they feel DRLs don't project an upscale and sporty image. The VWs all have DRLs...

Default How do you "reprogram" it.....

and what am I reprogramming?

I'd like to do this so idiot drivers out there see me, and hopefully get out of my way. Plus I drive on country roads where people need to pass trucks, farm equip, etc. so these help make you more visible.

With a <A HREF="http://www.ross-tech.com">VAG-COM</A> (or a friend with one), or your dealer may do it for you using their diagnostic equipment.

You connect to the electronics control module, which handles the headlights (among other things), and change the coding for it. Look under the "09-Elec. Ctrl. Mod." at this page:
<A HREF="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html</A> for a list of the choices.

Again, the code for Canada enables DRLs with foglights, the others just enable headlights. You can also enable the fogs without headlights option, which can be nice.
