Default Dealer has had my car since Tue 7AM trying to fix rattle in steering column...

last week when they claimed to have fixed it, someone managed to scuff the leather on the front passenger seat. I asked them to fix the seat and the rattle when I brought it in next week (no, they didn't fix the rattle last week).

Stopped by the dealership yesterday, looked at the leather repair and gasped. Does anyone know how leather is typically repaired? If I had to guess, I'd say they used some type of spray on adhesive that coated the leather and had a leather feel to it. The area they 'fixed' is glossier than the rest of my seat. I asked my advisor to talk to the repair person and find out if the glossiness goes away. Anyone had a similar experience with leather repair? Is the 'fixed' area going to peel when the material they used to fix it starts to degrade? Does anyone think they owe me a new seat?

Thanks guys.

Default Ummm, something doesnt sound right there...

On a relatively new car, shouldn't they just replace that section of the seat??? On my 02 I have leatherette and it was repaired using that type of technique and after a year it began to crack and peel. I went to the dealership and they replaced the seat bottom, no questions asked. I would ask them to replace the section, what good is a repair when it just makes things looks terrible like that??? Plus it was their fault!

Default It sucks...I think I'm going to ask for a new seat if it doesn't look better when I get her back....

Here's a pick of that dealer seat modification.

Default that doesnt look toooo bad but nonetheless the dealer should make it look new

That is really half-a$$ed if you ask me. My repair was probably 6 inches long and an inch wide, but was not that noticeable on the leatherette until it began to crack.
