At the dealer: I Should be able to prog key remote myself?

I finally gave up and bought a 2nd key. But I only bought the key half of a flip key since they want $80 for the remote part! and I already have spares from other cars (exact same remote) I should be able to prog the remote the Same way we used to before the VAS system right?

I think the dealer needs to dial into the gecko system to get your sku number or something like that

So no, you cant do it yourself.

(edit) Confirmed. You cannot program your own remotes either. This SUCKS!

I tried with the tech article instructions and Rossh's instructions using my VAG COM. No way to program additional remotes. VAG shows that there are no programed keys or remotes. Have to use that VAS system.

I didn't have my spare remote at the dealer (figured I could prog myself), so now I have to go back and see if they'll program it for me for free. If not, the hell with it. I'll just have a 2nd key that doesn't have a working remote. I have other bills to pay. Pissed!

Vag com forum says you can prog your own Keys. I'm going to try some new instructions later tonight and post back
