I will give you amounts I paid for repairs I have had done for me in the last 3.5 years:
1) $600 in labor for steering rack. I purchased a rake from ECS for $550ish with core return.
2) ~$400 for cam seal replacements
3) ~$500 for a wheel bearing
Other work I have done on my own:
1) Coolant flange: part was $50 (from memory) plus $65 for heater hose (which was the actual source of the leak). Time spent about 2 hours or $150 to $200. Not sure what the "book" value for this repair.
2) TB, water pump, and tensioner replace: ~$500 in parts. I took most of one day to do this. I have been given a quote of ~$1500 from my indie for this...I have a 1.8T.
3) Fluid replace of manual / torsen and rear diff: about $50 in fluid and about an hour. No idea what labor for this is.
4) Replace harness in door: ~$250 in parts and about 1.5 hours.
If you add this all up, it is about $1000 a year since I have owned the car with me doing about half the work.

$700 is more than enough for the flange and the breather hose.
$1500:
~$400 front left wheel bearing
~$400 for flange plus head gasket (special price)
~$400 brake job (I should have done this but winter here is kind of cold)
~$300 for odds and end (maintenance, filters, coolant, tire puncture, relay for secondary air pump, ...)
I had to do the timing belt at 46K so you're doing better already. Apparently temperature extremes don't agree with the delicate Audi timing belts.
