Default You should always put it in gear when parking....

Putting it in neutral is just asking for trouble.

Default Is this your first car?

EVERY car I have ever owned or drove, (I used to detail cars) the e-brake is like this. As soon as its at all engaged, the light comes on. And you have to apply more pressure on the ebrake to bring it to full "brake"... Or is this your first manual car?

And ALWAYS leave your car in gear... It was taught in drivers ed... Either first or reverse.
