JM1 (usually on 1st gen forum, probably others) and I had a short discussion on this.
I looked up EVERY Turbo part # in ETKA 5.5 which included up to 2001.5 A4's. There were 5 or 6 different turbo #'s. The first 6 #'s were the same, but the last letter/letter combination was different on each part. That's six different parts.
He explained the differences. Some were turbos used only in Europe, one was the US Spec 150 HP turbo and one was the US Spec 170HP turbo (hybrid K03) used in the 2001+ A4's.

with it, make it less expensive and complicated ( so they can sell more ), don't you think the German tuners would do so ? A broader market is always desirable in the tuning world - with the exception of Brabbus, Koenig, etc of course.
Why would the rest of the world continue to get 150hp versions the same car ?
It's pretty easy to see where the power falls off due to boost and turbine efficiency. Not only that, but then you'd really have a fueling issue if you try to tune it.

http://www.abt-sportsline.de/produkt_details.asp?lang=gb&e1=2&e2=4& e3=60&s1=3&gid=4578</a

different and has an exhaust setup that flows much better. The tuners tune a chip for the car not for the turbo. Not like the took a chip for the 2000 and put it into a 2002.

in europe. The K03 is just a hybrid using a K03 housing and a K04 wheel that is then cut down. The wheels are just more aggressive in pitch. If you want to know more about he turbo's email Juan he has all the specs for all the turbo's from 3K.

I have to hand it to you for spending more time in the garage with your A4 then posting on AW. Someone has to lead the way. You take that "Never Follow" seriously.
With that in mind who will give me the odds on atomixquattro getting 340 hp out of the 1.8T? And odds on how long until his 1.8T engine blows up? :-)

People come to these forums for ACCURATE information, not just fallacy. Your dealer was flat out wrong, bottom line.
