Do any of you sense resentment from people around you for owning an Audi?

I fully appreciate you being a straight shooter,
but don't feel bad when someone doesn't get it. If they spent the time working that they do resenting, they would have the things that they want.
It's not your fault so effem..

I think I may need to clarify
I just turned 21 last month I got this car about a 6 months ago. I am a full time student and full time investment banker. I paid for this car and my last car. However on a college campus or at least mine people assume when you are young your parents do everything/get everything for you. I like you BB was not poor but not rich and my parents don't even pay for college (only books and free room/board) hence me working. On campus people assume since I am 21 my parents got it for me and therefore get resentful. To people who know me better they don't care b/c they know I worked hard for it but it is those that don't know that get resentful.

Yes, most likely not so much so, but
it's still hate and resentment, and that's what bothers me. If I drove a Yukon and they still resented me after knowing what I'm about, that's still lame, imho. If they resent me because I got it as a gift and never paid for anything in my life, I can understand that, but that;s not the case.

Yep
but I'm noticing a more dramatic shift in the attitudes towards classes (in Marxist terms, I guess). I'm looking to get back into community involvement in the inner cities, so it's important to me to always notice the shifts occurring.
But on a happier note, it's nice to rant off in a place like this where people can relate.

3 years ago, when I got my '73 Porsche 914/4....
one of my neighbors suddenly became VERY snobby towards me. I later bumped into her husband and son at a store and they asked me about it and how much it cost me. They guessed around 30K! They were absolutely dumbfounded when I told them only 5K! Just goes to show how much a nameplate will change your status when dealing with the ignorant. I just assume now that since I also have the A4 parked in the driveway that they must think I hit the lottery or something (especially when stepping up from a '91 Nissan Sentra). it's just sad when tongues wag without the information to back them up.

even then.. why do people go out of their way to hate something they know nothing of..
its none of their business... they make it their business to hate...i just dont get it. Human nature I guess.
