Default Interestingly, what we're seeing is in some ways in agreement, and in others in conflict of this...

Okay, EBD is doing its job and giving the rear brakes more work, but in the end Audi still puts front brakes that are much bigger than the rear, as though EBD is not there...

Question still remains: why do we have such small rear brakes that, with EBD, they appear overused compared to the front?... :P

Thanks for digging that message up though

Default Re: my rear pads were almost metal to metal on the rotors when i changed, fronts had about 40% left

What year and what was the odometer reading when you realized the rear rotors were shot?? Thanks!

Default rotors werent really completely shot, fairly grooved at edge but OK till i replace, but the pads

were in that condition at roughly 23/24k, was about a month ago...first pad change on the car, i still need to do fronts and will prob do rotors/pads at once...

im considering seeing if i can get the rear rotors replace under warranty, even though its a wear and tear item, it seems odd that the rotor would be so grooved at the outside edge (prolly a good 1mm lip)

car sees bout 75/25% city/highway driving

Default Did you mean a lip of 1mm wide or 1mm high?

I think the lip is normal: I see it on my car, on my sister's B5, and my family's Allroad.

Default sorry, high, as if you dragged your finger nail across it would signigicantly catch on the outside

edge, it's a lip which seems to be quite exagerated esp. when compared to the front rotors

Default If the lip's 1mm high, it's time for rotor replacement...

I'm fairly sure rotors are only supposed to be used till they wear 2mm, which is what the lip implies.

I was told by my dealer rotors are covered under warranty, so you should definitely see what yours say, even though it seems a good number of people have hard times getting theirs to replace brake rotors...

Audi claims they will not replace rotors....odd that they will replace the pads though. If interested here is a link describing my rotor problems...I am still pressing Audi for coverage...

Default yeah, sorry bout your troubs, i figured it was like that though, i think i may ask nicely and if i

get "oh yeah, no problem" then cool, but if i get a quick no and a smirk, i think i'll just spend the 100 bux on some rear rotors and do myself, i try to avoid the warrenty battle unless it's something big bux- not knockin your fight though, sounds legitimate, let us know how it goes...
